Sometimes, if you cannot do something sufficiently “in house” it’s best to outsource it to someone or something that can. Often this comes with a price tag but providing you choose well this shouldn’t be an issue and after a time the service usually returns its investment and anything after that is a profit (usually after 12 months)
Telemarketing is something we have recently outsourced; this will provide us with a minimum of fifteen qualified appointments per consecutive month.
This company not only appoints for us but appoint for other partners who also sell the product. To keep it fair, the whole of the United Kingdom is broken up into postal regions and different partners pay for postal areas relative to their locations.
So when I received an appointed lead through on Salesforce (as used by Burberry and other high flyers) for a fleet of 30 vehicles and scope for an integration (as per the call recording that is also provided for us) I was feeling reassured that outsourcing our direct telesales was a wise move and that it would soon prove its ROI – bloody marvellous.
The following morning I am greeted by this email:

Hi,

Unfortunately I have just found out that the appointment we sent you for XCOMPANY  is actually already in another reseller’s pipeline. Therefore I ask you not to pursue this appointment, it will not count towards your figures, and I will pass the appointment to ACCOUNT MANAGER for re-distribution.

Many thanks,

I mean the total cheek of it. In another reseller’s pipeline? Fuck off, nimrod! I listened to the call recording with my own ear holes. The prospect hadn’t got a Scooby Doo what the telemarketer was on about – Surely as soon as you mention the brand and all it entails, the prospect will have a vague idea.
Either way this appointment has been taken away from us and I am far from happy, we pay for certain postcodes and I do not expect them to passed on or “re-distributed” to other wankers on a whim because maybe once upon a time they maybe had them on CMS.
Well you can take it and shove off, if you think I’ll be taking this in any shape or form. First thing tomorrow morning I will have my salesman in all of the surrounding unpaid postal areas and will be smashing the granny out of it, lead generation wise that is.
I maybe one for getting off my tits and thoroughly embarrassing myself – but get out of my area, fuckers!
